Kristin could never quite come to terms with failure. If she decided something would happen, she’d dedicate herself to the task, she’d put her head down, work hard, and then if she didn’t succeed, she’d have what she termed a ‘moment of readjustment’.
She made it sound boring and corporate, but given how high she aimed, and thus how often she failed, I’d had to do a lot to bring her back.
I’d let her go, but the moments before the ‘readjustments’? Worth every second.
