Boring Rulers

Most Kings, Queens, and other equivalent title holders, tend to deliver middling results. The benevolent godchild, the bloodthirsty tyrant, these extremes stand out as much because of the average ruler, as well as standing out for moral reasons.

This fact tends to be overlooked, when judging if a specific ruler was 'good' or 'bad'. Historians tend to use the outliers as measuring posts, which seems unfair to both types.

The outliers are the ones that dominate the history books. But without the boring rulers, history would have a hard time still existing.

You can of course judge them boring, though.
