Avid Horticulturist

I looked over my garden with some pride. The roses were coming up nicely.

But like anything worth doing, you have to keep at it, I couldn’t afford to become complacent. So I pulled on my gloves and set to work.

I must have spent all day working, pausing only for chilled homemade lemonade twice and some rather nice egg and cress sandwiches round lunchtime.

But then, just as I was finishing, as I bent over to pick up my trowel, I saw it. The unmistakable pale white of human bone, just visible in the soil.

Rose’s coming up again.
