The coffee was bad today in the diner. Last couple days, been
good, but today it was real bad like.
Couple city types came in earlier actually, asked to use the
phone, their car broke down or some such nonsense. Waitress poured them out a
couple cups of coffee and promised them she’d go get the phone. They made some
sort of joke about ‘D Cap’ or something, but they drank it.
Then they asked for another couple cups. Then after those,
couple more. They’re now the Winstons over by the general store.
Good thing the coffee was bad today.
